| The Offroader's Outreach (formerly the Offroader's Toy Drive) started out in 2002. I was thinking out loud about wanting newer, better, faster desert toys. As I was complaining to myself, it dawned on me that some people have no desert toys. The more I thought about it I realized that a lot of people have no toys at all. Then it dawned on me, why not try to help people that have nothing and just be content with the toys that I am fortunate enough to have. My first thought was toys for kids during the holiday season. After talking to family and friends about my idea, and after a lot of planning and a little luck, the first Off Roader's Toy Drive was a reality. We were able to raise a few hundred toys and get them to kids in need. It was a success. The feeling you get after giving and helping others was so strong that the decision was made to make The Off Roader’s Toy Drive an annual event. During the next five years the main focus was on toys for kids during the holidays. We were able to raise thousands of toys and help make the holidays special for many kids. After the Sixth Annual Offroader's Toy Drive we decided we wanted to go one step further. We are now Offroader’s Outreach, a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation. Our main focus will remain helping kids in need but we want to do more. Things in life change often and we want to be versatile in who and under what circumstances we can help kids, families and individuals. With the help and support of businesses and individuals within the offroad community as well as those that just want to help, we can and will make a difference in a life. So to sum things up we are a group of offroaders that love the desert and want to help others in need. It’s not what we have, but what we do with what we have that matters. |
